Why the Recent CeraVe Lawsuits Have Many Consumers Reconsidering Their Skincare Choices

A Message From Annubia Beauty

At Annubia Beauty, our mission has always been bigger than skincare. We believe that what you put on your body matters just as much as what you put in it. That’s why recent news surrounding lawsuits involving certain CeraVe acne products has raised concerns for many consumers—and honestly, it concerns us too.

Before we begin, it’s important to understand that a lawsuit is an allegation, not a final court ruling. However, the questions being raised have encouraged many people to take a closer look at the ingredients in their daily skincare products and consider cleaner, more natural alternatives.

What Is the CeraVe Lawsuit About?

Multiple lawsuits have been filed against CeraVe’s parent company, L’Oréal, alleging that certain acne products containing benzoyl peroxide may degrade into benzene under certain conditions. Benzene is a chemical that has been linked to serious health concerns and is classified as a known human carcinogen. The lawsuits claim that consumers were not adequately warned about these potential risks.

The specific products most commonly named in the lawsuits include:

  • CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser (4% Benzoyl Peroxide)
  • CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Wash (10% Benzoyl Peroxide)

These cases are still ongoing, and no final determination has been made by the courts.

Should You Panic?

No.

Fear-based decisions rarely lead to good outcomes. Instead, we encourage education and awareness.

Many skincare products on the market may still be considered safe when used as directed, and regulatory agencies continue to evaluate available evidence. In fact, the FDA has stated that the majority of acne products it tested contained undetectable or very low levels of benzene.

However, situations like this remind us of something important:

Consumers deserve transparency.

You deserve to know what’s in your products, why it’s there, and how it may affect your body.

Why More People Are Turning Toward Natural Skincare

Many people are choosing natural skincare because they want simplicity, transparency, and ingredients they can recognize.

Natural skincare often focuses on ingredients such as:

  • Botanical oils
  • Plant extracts
  • Clays
  • Herbal infusions
  • Fruit enzymes
  • Naturally occurring vitamins and minerals

Rather than relying heavily on synthetic ingredients, many holistic skincare products are designed to support the skin’s natural functions while minimizing unnecessary additives.

The Annubia Beauty Difference

When I created Annubia Beauty, I did so because I personally wanted products that were gentle, effective, and made with intention.

As someone who struggled to find products that respected both my skin and my health-conscious lifestyle, I became passionate about creating formulas centered around nature’s ingredients.

We believe skincare should:

✔ Nourish the skin

✔ Support the skin barrier

✔ Use thoughtfully selected ingredients

✔ Be transparent about what is inside every jar and bottle

✔ Help you feel confident in your skincare choices

Whether you’re dealing with sensitive skin, hyperpigmentation, dryness, acne, or simply looking for a more holistic approach to self-care, our goal is to provide products that help you glow naturally.

The Bigger Conversation

The recent lawsuits aren’t just about one brand.

They’re a reminder that consumers should stay informed, ask questions, read ingredient labels, and advocate for greater transparency throughout the beauty industry.

At Annubia Beauty, we aren’t here to spread fear.

We’re here to empower you with knowledge.

Because when you know better, you can choose better.

And your skin deserves nothing less.

With love,

Asada Jenkins
